Caring for your shoes

Annika Barefoot offer a guarantee on each pair we sell – of course!

But at the same time I would love all of you to care for your shoes for the relationship to last a long time.

Taking care of your leather shoes is essential to ensure their longevity and maintain their appearance. Here are some tips to keep your shoes looking their best:
  1. Regular Cleaning: Wipe down your shoes with a soft, damp cloth after each wear to remove any dirt or debris. For stubborn stains, use a leather cleaner specifically designed for the type of leather your shoes are made from.
  2. Conditioning: Leather is a natural material that can dry out over time, leading to cracks and deterioration. To keep your shoes supple and moisturized, apply a leather conditioner every few months. This will help prevent drying and cracking, and keep the leather feeling soft and smooth.
  3. Storage: Proper storage is crucial for maintaining the shape and condition of your shoes. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Use shoe trees or the shoe-shaped paper that was in the shoes when you recieved them, to help maintain their shape and absorb excess moisture from the leather.
  4. Protection: To protect your shoes from water damage and stains, consider applying a waterproofing spray or wax. Be sure to test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it does not discolor or damage the leather.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your leather shoes remain in excellent condition for years to come, allowing you to enjoy them for many seasons ahead.

When the sole is worn down, it’s easy for a cobbler to replace it. So if you take good care of the leather, you’ll have a pair of shoes for life.

Shoe horn

When you put your shoes on, it’s recommended to use a shoe horn. This is for the heel of the shoe to last longer.

To use a shoe horn, simply hold the handle and place the curved end inside the heel of your shoe. Gently slide your foot into the shoe, using the shoe horn to guide your heel and prevent unnecessary strain on the shoe’s structure. Once your foot is comfortably in the shoe, remove the shoe horn and enjoy the benefits of a smooth heel that is protected against friction and damages.

Incorporating a shoe horn into your daily footwear routine is a small but valuable step towards maintaining the condition of your shoes and enhancing your overall comfort and convenience.
